Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police have arrested two persons for allegedly collecting mule bank accounts and SIM cards from unsuspecting people and supplying them to cyber fraudsters in return for commissions.

The suspects, Gumma Ramesh (39) and Mudale Anil (19), both residents of Ramanthapur, were apprehended Saturday. Two mobile phones were seized from them.

According to the police, the suspects allegedly facilitated a fraud in which a man was lured through Facebook with an offer of Rs 45 lakh for an old one-rupee currency note. The victim was cheated of Rs 7, 93,351.

The police said Ramesh, who earlier worked as a cab driver for Rapido and Uber, allegedly approached students, delivery partners and others in Ramanthapur and persuaded them to provide their bank accounts and SIM cards in exchange for commissions. He collected passbooks, ATM cards, internet banking credentials and SIM cards and couriered them to cybercriminals in Haryana.

Anil allegedly opened three savings bank accounts in different banks for commission payments and handed over the account credentials to Ramesh. The suspects were allegedly aware that the accounts and SIM cards would be used for cybercrime.
