Hyderabad: Two held for transporting liquor to Andhra Pradesh

The arrested persons are R.Damodar (26) from Nalgonda and R.Hari (22) from Hasthinapuram in Vanasthalipuram.

Hyderabad: The Hayathnagar police caught two persons on charges of illegally transporting liquor from Telangana to Andhra Pradesh, here on Friday midnight. The police seized 600 liquor bottles and a car, all put together worth Rs 6 lakh from them.

The arrested persons are R.Damodar (26) from Nalgonda and R.Damodar (26) from Hasthinapuram in Vanasthalipuram.


Police said the suspects who are auto-rickshaw drivers and aware that liquor rates in the State are lower than Andhra Pradesh, plotted to earn easy money by transporting liquor and selling it for higher rates in the neighbouring State.

Accordingly, they were transporting liquor in the car and were caught during a vehicle checking at Koheda village. They were produced before the court for remanding in judicial custody.
