Hyderabad: The Tolichowki police arrested two persons for illegal possession of deer meat and horns, in a suspected case of wildlife trade on Friday night.
The suspects, identified as Mohd Siraj and Mohd Waseem, both residents of MD Lines, were found with a deer head, meat, and two horns.
During interrogation, Siraj confessed to purchasing the deer head from an unknown person at Chowk in Charminar and transporting it to his residence. With the assistance of Waseem, a local butcher, the deer head was cut into pieces.
Police seized the deer meat and horns and handed them over to the Deputy Forest Range Officer for further investigation. Forest authorities are now probing the source of the deer head and potential violations of the Wildlife Protection Act.
