Hyderabad: Two persons died on the spot while another was injured when the car they were travelling in went out of control and crashed into a stationary container truck on Rajiv Rahadari at Turkapally in Shamirpet on the city outskirts on Tuesday.
The victims, S Sudarshan (32) and S Rajender (33), were both from Velgatur in Jagtial district. The injured person was identified as D Vamshi (30) from Dharmapuri in Nagaram.
According to the police, the mishap occurred after 5.30 am, when the three were returning after seeing off Sudarshan’s father, who took a flight to Dubai from the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, with Sudarshan driving the car.
“He was driving quite fast and missed to notice the stationary container truck on the road. He lost control of the steering wheel and crashed into it from behind. Due to the impact, Sudarshan and Rajender suffered grievous injuries and died on the spot,” police said adding that Vamshi survived with non-fatal injuries.
Other motorists opened the car windows and tried to shift Sudarshan and Rajender to the hospital, but they had died by then. Vamshi was shifted to a nearby private hospital for treatment. His condition was stated to be stable. The Shamirpet police shifted the bodies to the government hospital in Medchal for autopsy.
