Hyderabad: Two men, who were living on the pavement in Nampally, were bludgeoned to death with concrete stones in the early hours of Monday. The suspect, identified as Khadeer, who has been taken into custody is suspected to be suffering from mental health issues.

According to police, the first victim was an unidentified man who lived on the pavement near Hotel Alhamdulillah road under the Habeebnagar police station limits. Police have obtained video visuals of the suspect sitting near the victim on the pavement and talking to him. A little later, he is seen taking a stone, possibly a large piece of concrete from the roadside, and bludgeoning the other man to death.

The second murder was a few hours later, a little away from Dargah Yousufain in Nampally. The victim was sleeping on the pavement.

The police, who shifted the bodies to the Osmania General Hospital mortuary, said Khadeer was tracked down and taken into custody.

“After killing both victims, he sat near them and checked their pockets. We are questioning him to know if the motive was to steal money,” police said, adding that Khadeer was involved in a murder reported in 2019 in Nampally and was arrested then.

He is being questioned to know if he was involved in any other murders, police said, pointing out that there were a few cases of similar murders on pavements in the city. Most of those were suspected to be after personal or petty financial issues between individuals. Further investigation is on.
