Hyderabad: Two siblings are suspected to have fallen ill and died due to food poisoning after consuming mangoes in the city.

The girls, Bhuvaneshwari (17) and her younger sister Sandhya (10) on Sunday had reportedly picked up a few mangoes lying near their house and had consumed them.

Later, in the evening, they fell ill and started vomiting and suffered stomach problems following which their parents rushed them to a hospital for treatment.

Unfortunately, the elder girl Bhuvaneshwari died during treatment on Monday while Sandhya passed away on Tuesday.

Following the incident, the parents approached the police and filed a complaint. The Narayanguda police registered a case and started an investigation.

“So far, we believe the siblings died due to food poisoning and that is what the doctors told us. The postmortem examination was conducted on the bodies and autopsy reports are awaited,” said Inspector Narayanguda, M Saideshwar.
