Hyderabad: United Federation of RWAs (UFERWAS) representatives have sought improved civic services and greater public participation in urban administration in the Core Urban Region Economy (CURE) area.
A delegation led by UFERWAS Telangana president Sitaram Dhoolipala met Metropolitan Area and Urban Development Department Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan at the GHMC head office in Tank Bund on Thursday and submitted a representation on issues concerning municipal corporations and urban governance.
The delegation sought the formation and strengthening of ward committees envisaged under the CURE Act to ensure grassroots governance and better civic services.
Members also sought rainwater harvesting pits and improvements to road infrastructure for effective rainwater management. They called for measures to collect and properly manage excess water from sewage treatment plants in gated communities.
The delegation urged authorities to simplify registration procedures and reduce registration charges to encourage wider participation and compliance. It requested the department to examine the issues and take steps to strengthen urban governance, promote sustainable water management and increase citizen participation in municipal administration.
