Hyderabad: A used car dealer was booked for allegedly issuing a misleading advertisement on social media, which led to chaos and public outrage at Nacharam on Monday.
According to information available, the suspect Roshan, a resident of Mallapur, had announced a Republic Day special offer on Instagram, claiming that cars would be sold for Rs 26,000 each. He further stated that 50 vehicles would be available under the offer.
Attracted by the unusually low price, a large number of people gathered outside his shop early in the morning. However, reportedly, only about ten cars were found at the premises. As the crowd swelled and customers questioned the availability of vehicles, the dealer failed to provide any explanation and backed out of the offer.
Angered by this, some people damaged the cars parked at the location.
On receiving information, the police rushed to the spot, brought the situation under control, and later took the dealer into custody.
A case has been booked against him for misleading the public, and further investigation is on.
