Hyderabad: Veeranari Chakali Ilamma Women’s University has received the University Grants Commission (UGC) recognition under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956.

The recognition was granted based on the Telangana Universities (Amendment) Act, 2025 (Act No.6 of 2025).

Earlier, in April 2022, the State government had declared Osmania University College for Women aka Koti Women’s College as the State’s first women’s university. Subsequently, Telangana Legislative Assembly passed the Veeranari Chakali Ilamma Women’s University Bill, formally establishing it as a State university.

The recognition makes the university eligible for various academic and research grants, providing a significant boost to its development, a press release said.
