Hyderabad: A video showing a Zepto delivery partner pleading with traffic police after his motorcycle was seized while he was reportedly delivering an order has triggered criticism on social media.
The incident reportedly took place in Hyderabad on Friday. According to the video circulating online, the delivery partner told traffic police personnel that he was in the middle of delivering an order and requested them to allow him to complete the delivery before taking action.
“Please, sir, I will deliver the order and leave. My wife is in the hospital,” he is heard saying in the video.
The motorcycle was reportedly seized after it was found parked on the roadside. Traffic police personnel towing the vehicle allegedly asked the delivery partner to come to the police station to collect it.
The video further shows the delivery partner attempting to stop the towing vehicle and pleading with the officials. At one point, a police official opens the door of the towing vehicle and appears to push him away as the vehicle moves.
The video has since drawn criticism from several social media users, who questioned whether the situation could have been handled more sensitively, particularly after the delivery partner said that his wife was hospitalised.
Several users criticised the alleged conduct of the police personnel and accused them of showing little concern for the delivery worker’s circumstances. Others questioned whether traffic enforcement could have been carried out without disrupting his livelihood.
