Hyderabad: Water heater explosion guts house in Medchal

A house was gutted after a water heater allegedly exploded at Somaram in Yellampet, Medchal, on Wednesday. No casualties were reported as the house owner had stepped out before flames spread. Police are investigating the incident and property damage.

Hyderabad: A house was completely gutted after a water heater allegedly exploded at Somaram in Yellampet in Medchal on Wednesday.

No casualties were reported in the incident.

The incident occurred shortly after the house owner, B Mahesh, switched on the heater and stepped out. Within minutes, flames broke out and rapidly spread across the house.

The locals immediately rushed and doused the flames with water from the neighbourhood.

According to the house owner, around Rs 4 lakh worth of property was reportedly destroyed. Nearly 2.5 quintals of rice, clothes, household essentials and appliances were reduced to ashes.

As no one was inside the house at the time, there were no casualties.

The Medchal police are investigating.
