Hyderabad: The Mailardevpally police unravelled the mystery behind a man’s body found packed in a gunny bag two days ago, and arrested two women including his wife, on Thursday.

According to the police, the victim identified as Mohd Mumtaz Alam, a resident of Vinayakanagar in Mailardevpally and native of Bihar, was married to Raushan Khan, some years ago. The couple migrated to the city and was staying at Vinayakanagar with both working as labourers.

For last few months, Raushan Khan noticed that her husband was busy speaking with someone over the mobile phone. It led to arguments between the couple as Raushan suspected Mumtaz of having an illegal relationship with some other woman. Mumtaz Alam coming home late in nights and not giving money for household expenses further raised suspicions.

On December 20, an argument ensued between the couple and deciding to kill her husband, Raushan sought the help of her younger sister Bibi.

“Raushan and Bibi strangulated Mumtaz using a rope while he was sleeping and packing the body in a gunny bag, dumped it on Katedan road,” said Mailardevpally Inspector, P Narendar.

The body went unnoticed for three days until on December 24, when GHMC workers noticed it. As the body was highly decomposed, a stray dog tore the bag.

“A case was registered and after verifying the footage of the closed circuit cameras, we came to know about the colony from where the body was brought. After local inputs, we questioned Raushan, who admitted to killing her husband with help of her sister,” said the Inspector.

Both the women were produced before the court and remanded.
