Hyderabad: Residents in several parts of Hyderabad were greeted with light rainfall on Tuesday evening, just like on Monday, with some localities including Quthbullapur, Kompally and Alwal witnessing showers that lasted for about 30 minutes, followed by a pleasant evening. In the meantime, weather officials have warned of thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds across the State over the next four days.

The temperature, which was pegged at 38.4 degree Celsius, was one degree less than the normal temperature by Tuesday evening. The rainfall recorded by the different weather stations of the Telangana State Development Planning Society saw Neredmet recording 14.3 mm till 6 pm, while AS Rao Nagar recorded 13 mm. Shaikpet recorded 11.5 mm, while Alwal recorded 11 mm.

On the other hand, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad has issued a warning stating that there would be thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty winds at isolated places in the State till April 24. The gusty winds could be as fast as 30-40 kmph. Experts predict light to moderate rainfall towards Serilingampally and Kukatpally as well on Wednesday.

IMD Hyderabad director Dr K Nagaratna said there was a trough at 0.9 km above mean sea level, which runs from Jharkhand to North Interior Karnataka across Chhattisgarh and Telangana, due to which the State was receiving the rainfall.

On Tuesday, several cities in the State, including Adilabad, Bhadrachalam, Mahabubnagar, Hanmakonda and Nizamabad received moderate to heavy rainfall. These places were likely to witness more showers in the coming days.

The highest maximum temperature of 41.8 degree Celsius was recorded from Adilabad by the IMD on Tuesday, accompanied with 5 mm rainfall. Bhadrachalam received the highest rainfall of 79 mm.
