Hyderabad: Woman allegedly beaten to death by husband in Ghatkesar

A 37-year-old woman was allegedly beaten to death by her husband while she slept at their Ghatkesar home on Wednesday. Police suspect alcohol addiction and suspicion over her conduct as possible motives and have registered a case against the husband.

Hyderabad: A 37-year-old woman was allegedly beaten to death by her husband while she was asleep at their residence at Dwaraka Nagar in Ghatkesar on Wednesday morning.

Police suspect that alcohol addiction and suspicion over his wife’s conduct were behind the murder.

The victim was identified as Madhavi, who had been married to Katravath Raju for around 18 years. The couple had been living in Ghatkesar for nearly 15 years and have three children.

According to police, Raju had been addicted to alcohol for the past three years. He allegedly frequently quarrelled with and harassed Madhavi, reportedly due to suspicion. The situation is believed to have escalated on Tuesday night.

Police said that while Madhavi was sleeping, Raju allegedly attacked her with a cement brick, striking her on the chest in the early morning on Wednesday. She suffered severe injuries and died in the attack on the spot.

On receiving information, the Ghatkesar police reached the spot and took up investigation. A case has been registered against Raju, and further inquiry is underway to establish the exact circumstances and motive behind the killing.
