Hyderabad: Woman allegedly throws six-year-old daughter into Hussain Sagar, auto driver rescues her
A six-year-old girl was rescued from Hussain Sagar Lake after her mother allegedly threw her into the water, reportedly unable to afford treatment for an intestinal infection. An alert auto-rickshaw driver saved the child, who is stable at Gandhi Hospital.
Hyderabad: A woman allegedly threw her six-year-old daughter into the Hussain Sagar Lake, reportedly unable to afford treatment for the child’s intestinal infection, here on Thursday.
However, an alert auto-rickshaw driver who witnessed the incident immediately jumped into the water and rescued the girl.
The woman, identified as Shabana, a resident of Hashmathpet in Old Bowenpally, has been raising her two daughters by working as a domestic help after her husband abandoned the family.
Her younger daughter, Ruksana (6), was suffering from an intestinal infection. Unable to bear the cost of treatment, Shabana allegedly threw the child into the lake around 2 pm.
An auto driver, who was passing by, noticed the incident and rushed to save the girl.
Ruksana was subsequently shifted to Gandhi Hospital, where she is currently undergoing treatment. Her health is stable.
