Hyderabad: Woman arrested for allegedly drowning nine-month-old daughter in lake
A 34-year-old woman was arrested after allegedly drowning her nine-month-old daughter in Bairamalguda Lake under the LB Nagar police limits in Hyderabad. Police suspect she was under the influence of alcohol and are investigating the motive behind the child's death.
Hyderabad: A 34-year-old woman was arrested after she allegedly drowned her nine-month-old daughter in Bairamalguda Lake in LB Nagar police on Sunday evening.
Police said the suspect was allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
According to investigators, morning walkers spotted the woman holding the infant in the lake at around 7 pm and alerted the police through
Dial 100. By the time rescuers reached the spot, the baby had died.
Police identified the accused as Lokasani Rajeshwari (34), a resident of Injapur and wife of Ravinder.
During questioning, she allegedly admitted to consuming alcohol before the incident.
Police are now probing the motive behind the alleged killing and examining all circumstances leading to the child’s death. It is learnt that the suspect was angered by the continuous crying of the infant.
The child’s body was shifted to Osmania General Hospital for autopsy.
A murder case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
