Hyderabad: A woman who went to wash clothes drowned in a lake in Mailardevpally on Friday.
The woman, identified as Reshma Begum (34), a resident of Rajiv Gruhakalpa in Laxmiguda lived with her husband Sonu and four children. According to the police, on Friday evening, Reshma went to the lake in Umdanagar along with her two children to wash clothes. During this, she slipped and fell in the lake and started drowning. Her children, who were present at the spot, tried to rescue her, but they too fell into the water.
Hearing the children screaming, those passing by rushed to their rescue. Though the children could be rescued, Reshma drowned by then. On receiving information, the Mailardevpally police reached the spot and retrieved Reshma’s body with the help of an expert swimmer.
The Mailardevpally police are investigating.
