Hyderabad: The Hyderabad cybercrime police arrested two persons for allegedly cheating a woman of Rs 3.79 lakh on the pretext of providing huge profits.

The arrested, L Anand Reddy, E Laxma Reddy, and others had posted advertisements on online platforms about a trading business. After coming across the advertisement, the victim, a woman aged 52 years, got connected to the WhatsApp group started by the suspects.

“The duo persuaded the woman to invest in online trading and lured her with promises of huge profits. The woman invested around Rs 3.79 lakh and later was duped by the fraudsters,” said the cybercrime police officials.

On a complaint, the police registered a case and tracked down the two suspects who were arrested. Anand and Laxma helped the main fraudsters in executing the scam by supplying bank accounts. Efforts are on to nab the remaining persons.
