Hyderabad: A woman from the city was cheated to the tune of Rs 5 lakh by fraudsters posing as bank officials. Police said the victim, a private employee from Marredpally, recently received a message from her bank stating Rs 12,000 was debited from her account. As the transaction was not done by her, she wanted to raise a ticket with the bank authorities and searched for the customer care service details of the bank on Google.
When she called on the number that she found on Google, the person on the other side introduced himself as a bank official and asked her account details, including the password, which she gave. Soon after that, Rs 5 lakh was debited from her account. A case has been booked and investigation is on.
