Hyderabad: Woman escapes sexual assault bid near Disha case site

A woman was allegedly subjected to an attempted sexual assault by a cab driver near Kotwalguda on Hyderabad’s outskirts. She escaped, raised an alarm and alleged the driver fled after snatching her bag containing Rs 60,000. RGIA police registered a case

 Hyderabad: A woman was allegedly subjected to an attempted sexual assault by a cab driver reportedly near the site of the 2019 Disha case in Shamshabad on the city outskirts, with the incident coming late to light.

The woman, from Shivaji Nagar in Devarakonda, was travelling by cab to Shamshabad when the driver allegedly changed the route near the toll plaza at Tondpally.

As per information available, the driver had reportedly took her to an isolated location near Kotwalguda and attempted to sexually assault her.

The woman managed to get out of the cab and raised an alarm. The driver allegedly fled after snatching her bag containing Rs 60,000 cash.

She later approached RGIA police, who registered a case and formed special teams to trace the suspect driver.
The incident occurred at a location associated with the 2019 Disha case, in which a veterinary doctor was sexually assaulted and killed near Tondupally on November 27, 2019.
