Hyderabad: Woman hangs self after husband chides for putting on weight

Police said the victim, identified as Sri Latha, was married to Shiva Kumar, a police constable officer, and the couple had two children.

Hyderabad: A woman died, allegedly by suicide, in her house at Dundigal here on Wednesday. She is suspected to have been depressed over harassment from her husband, who reportedly chided her repeatedly, including for putting on weight.

Police said the victim, identified as Sri Latha, was married to Shiva Kumar, a police constable officer, and the couple had two children.

According to her family, Sri Latha was being harassed by her husband over trivial matters. He also often commented on her putting on weight in the recent times. Depressed over this, she ended her life, they said.

The Dundigal police have taken up investigation and have shifted the body to the hospital for autopsy.
