Hyderabad: The EAGLE Force team of Telangana, in coordination with the Narcotics Control Bureau and the Customs Department, busted a transnational Hydroponic ganja racket and arrested an individual. A total of 2.15 kilograms of ganja was seized.

Based on credible inputs, the EAGLE Force, along with NCB and Customs, caught a woman, Doddi Suri Kala, a resident of Sanathnagar, Hyderabad, at the RGI Airport and seized 2.15 kilograms of hydroponic ganja. The woman had arrived from Bangkok and landed at the RGI Airport Shamshabad carrying the contraband.

Investigation revealed a person, Challil Puthanpurayil Nafsheed alias Alex, had allegedly lured women from Hyderabad working as junior artists into carrying OG weed ganja from Thailand. It was further learnt that Nafsheed, along with an associate identified as Raju Biswas, are coordinating international drug transport operations using people facing financial problems.

During interrogation, the woman stated that she was lured into foreign trips under the pretext of carrying harmless items such as chocolates and biscuits. The police found that the syndicate allegedly paid couriers around Rs 20,000 per trip, exploiting financially vulnerable individuals, particularly women in the entertainment field.

Authorities suspect the existence of a broader transnational network involving multiple carriers and foreign-based handlers coordinating shipments from Bangkok to India.

Efforts are underway to nab the other persons involved in the case.
