Hyderabad: A local court on Thursday sentenced a woman and four of her relatives to life imprisonment on charges of killing her husband in Meerpet in 2015. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 each on them. The convicted are B Sreelatha alias Lavanya (32), G Lokeshwar (35), K Dhanraj (26), A Rahul (20) and N Shankar (20), all residents of Arundathi Colony in Uppuguda.
Lavanya had frequent fights with her husband B Suresh Kumar (37), an auto driver over the latter selling his ancestral property and demanding her to sell her property at Bandangpet. He also went home drunk and fought with her, suspecting her fidelity.
In May 2015, Lavanya’s tenant called her saying Suresh Kumar was threatening him to vacate. She then informed her elder brother Lokeshwar and others, who reached the spot and found Suresh in an inebriated condition. They attacked him with sticks, resulting in his death. Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat appreciated the investigation officer and team for their efforts in securing the conviction and announced rewards for them.
