Hyderabad: A 30-year-old woman from the city allegedly lost nearly Rs 31.42 lakh after being duped by a consultancy that promised to secure a UK skilled worker visa and overseas employment.

The complainant, who is a resident of Film Nagar, approached Aren Overseas Consultancy for assistance in obtaining a job in the UK. The consultancy’s representatives, identified as Deepti and Rufus Veleti, allegedly assured her that they would arrange a UK Skilled Worker Visa and a Certificate of Sponsorship.

Believing their promises, the woman paid nearly Rs 31.42 lakh in installments. However, the visa application was eventually rejected, and she was allegedly informed that she had been barred from entering the UK for 10 years.

The woman lodged a complaint with the Jubilee Hills police, who have booked a case and are investigating the role of the consultancy representatives in the alleged fraud.
