Hyderabad: A woman, along with nine others, was arrested for allegedly attempting to have her husband kidnapped in the city.
According to the Amberpet Police, the sensational kidnap-for-ransom case reported in October last week has been solved and 10 persons, including M Madhavi Latha (51), who allegedly masterminded the abduction of her husband Mantri Shyam to seize his properties and extort money, were arrested.
Acting on a complaint filed on October 29, the police started probing after Shyam went missing from DD Colony. He reportedly managed to escape from his captors on October 31 and informed police that his wife had hired henchmen to kidnap him.
East Zone DCP B Balaswamy said investigations revealed that Madhavi Latha, along with Vundy Durga Vinay and Katta Durga Prasad alias Sai, had conspired to abduct Shyam and demand Rs 10 lakh ransom. They had promised Rs 1 crore to the gang members.
The suspects had tracked Shyam’s movements for several days and abducted him in multiple vehicles before he escaped from their captivity in Banjara Hills. The police seized three cars, two bikes, six mobile phones and other material. Efforts are on to nab the absconding suspects.
