Hyderabad: A woman who killed her husband and attempted to picture it as a road crash was arrested along with her paramour and associates in Medchal here on Tuesday. An extra-marital affair led to the killing, police said.

The arrested were Babitha, Prem Singh, Ajmer Prem, Rahul, V Raju, Suraj and P Raju, all residents of Saidhonigadda Thanda in Medchal-Malkajgiri district.

Babitha, who had an extra-marital affair with Prem Singh, conspired with the latter to eliminate her husband D Suresh. Accordingly, Prem Singh sought the help of his friends Ajmer Prem, Rahul and Raju, who agreed and took Rs 70,000 as advance. They plotted to kill Suresh with a truck and make it appear as a road mishap.

“After three futile attempts, Suraj hit the bike of Suresh with a truck on the outskirts of Yadaram village in the last week of May while he was returning home,” said P V Padmaja, DCP, Balanagar.

Suresh, who suffered grievous injuries, was shifted by P Raju and Ajmer Prem in the car driven by Rahul and smothered him to death. The matter was informed to Prem Singh over the phone.
“Posing as motorists and pedestrians, they shifted Suresh to the government hospital where the doctors declared him dead,” the DCP said.

The Medchal police initially booked a case of road mishap and took up investigation. Following suspicions raised by Suresh’s father D Bansi and the autopsy report indicating smothering or strangulation, the murder angle was probed.

“Over a strong suspicion, Rahul, who drove the car driver, was taken into custody and he spilled the beans,” officials said. The case was altered to murder and all suspects were arrested. They were produced before the court and remanded in judicial custody.
