Hyderabad: In a heart-wrenching incident, upset over family disputes, a woman and her two-year-old daughter allegedly died by suicide after jumping into Hussain Sagar.
The victims were identified as Keerthika Agarwal alias Karthika Agarwal (28), a Chartered Accountant, and her daughter Biyara Agarwal (2), residents of Bahadurpura.
According to the Lake Police, Keerthika was married to Prithvilal, a businessman from the old city, and had a daughter. The couple had been facing marital issues for some time, and about a year and a half ago, Keerthika moved to her parents’ house in Bahadurpura along with her daughter.
On November 2, Keerthika and her daughter left home and did not return. Her worried parents lodged a missing complaint with the Bahadurpura police, who booked a case and took up the investigation.
On Monday, locals spotted a woman’s body floating near Neera Café on PVNR Marg and alerted the authorities. The body was shifted to the mortuary for identification.
Following the complaint, police confirmed that the victim was Keerthika. Continuing the search, police later recovered the body of her daughter from the lake on Tuesday night.
Preliminary investigation suggested that Keerthika was upset over ongoing domestic disputes and took the extreme step. Lake Police are investigating.
