Hyderabad: Allegedly depressed over his girlfriend avoiding him, a young man died by suicide by jumping from a multi-storied building at Shobhan Colony in Balanagar here on Sunday night.

The man was identified as Shubham (26), a resident of Nehru Nagar in Jagadgirigutta.

According to the police, Shubham became friends with the woman from Shobhan Colony on Instagram and eventually both exchanged their mobile phone numbers and continued to chat over phone. They met each other personally too.

However, things were not going well between them recently and the girl stopped talking to him and started avoiding him, police said. On Sunday night, Shubham went to the girls house and asked her to come out as he wanted to sort out things, but she refused to do so. Angered by this, Shubham started abusing and created a scene, following which her family members too intervened and warned Shubham, asking him to leave the place.

Between the heated arguments, Shubham suddenly ran to the third floor of the building and jumped from there. He suffered grievous injuries and died.

The Balanagar police booked a case and took up investigation. Meanwhile Shubham’s family alleged that Shubham was murdered. The body was shifted to the Gandhi Hospital morgue for autopsy.
