Hyderabad: A 22-year-old youngster from Hyderabad, Ayaan, who suffered a deep cut in the neck from kite manja and was profusely bleeding, successfully underwent a life-saving surgery at Apollo Hospitals, Hyderguda.

During admission at the hospital’s emergency room, Ayaan was profusely bleeding from neck. Though in a precarious condition, early intervention of the cardiovascular surgical team helped in saving his life, a press release said.

The injury had severed several blood vessels including external jugular, thyroid gland and neck muscles. The windpipe too had a cut but the injury didn’t protrude deep inside air way, doctors said.

Dr K Venkat Reddy, chief cardiac surgeon and team of specialist surgeons, sutured the vessels quickly and stopped the bleeding.

Later, neck muscles skin and the subcutaneous tissues were approximated, which helped stabilise the patient who has since recovered, is conscious, coherent, hemodynamically stable and started taking soft diet in ICU, surgeons added.
