Hyderabad: A teenager was booked for allegedly living with a minor girl and assaulting her in a room in Film Nagar in the city.

As per available information, a 16-year-old girl from Mahabubnagar who had left home after a dispute with her parents was found staying with an 18-year-old boy in Film Nagar. The incident came to light after the girl herself informed her parents about her situation.

The girl had run away from home about a year ago after her parents allegedly tried to force her into marriage. Since then, she had been working as a receptionist in a private software company in Hyderabad. To her parents, she had claimed that she was staying in a private women’s hostel.

A few days ago, the girl called her parents and informed them that for the past one month she had been living with a youth in a rented room. She also alleged that the boy had been physically assaulting her for over a week.

Her parents immediately reached Hyderabad, traced her location, and lodged a complaint with the Film Nagar police.

Acting swiftly, the police registered a case under the POCSO Act and are investigating. Facts mentioned in the complaint are being verified and efforts are on to nab the youth.
