Hyderabad: Youth dies after coming under tusker truck during Ganesh immersion

A youth died after accidentally coming under the wheels of a tusker truck near Khairatabad Junction during the Ganesh immersion procession on Friday. Police detained the truck driver and launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Hyderabad: A youth died after accidentally coming under the wheels of a tusker truck near Metro Pillar No. 1167 at Khairatabad Junction on Friday, during the Ganesh idol immersion procession.

According to preliminary information, the youth, whose identity was not known immediately, was running across the road when he fell under the moving vehicle. He suffered multiple grievous injuries and died on the spot.

The Khairatabad police reached the spot and launched an investigation. The truck driver was taken into custody.

Meanwhile, the victim’s friends alleged that the youth was trying to escape after police personnel deployed for crowd control resorted to a lathi charge on the road.

The police have not yet confirmed the allegation, and the exact circumstances leading to the incident are under investigation.

The incident occurred amid heightened security and traffic regulation arrangements in the area for the Ganesh idol final immersion procession.
