Hyderabad: A 20-year-old youth was killed after a tipper truck rammed his scooter near the EFLU junction near Osmania University on Wednesday morning.

According to police, the victim, identified as Harsha, a resident of Upparabasti in Namalagundu, Sitaphalmandi, had gone to Nacharam with two friends on Tuesday night. After staying there until around 2 am, the trio returned to Sitaphalmandi.

Harsha then took his friend’s scooter and left alone for home. While he was travelling towards Vidyanagar, a tipper truck allegedly hit the scooter from behind near the EFLU ‘X’ Road Junction. The impact threw Harsha onto the divider, causing severe head injuries. He died on the spot.

Harsha’s mother, Rani, works at a clothing store, while his father, Ravinder, has been bedridden with paralysis for the past five years. Harsha’s death has left the family devastated, as he was reportedly a major source of support for his parents.

The Osmania University police are investigating.
