Hyderabad: All animals at the Nehru Zoological Park were safe in their respective enclsoures, said the officials who carried out an inspection of the zoo premises in wake of the incessant rains in the past few days.
Director, Zoo Parks, Sidhanand Kukrety and Nehru Zoological Park curator V.V.L. Subhadra Devi, accompanied by other senior officials and staff on Wednesday examined the situation in the zoo park and said the veterinary team was keeping constant vigil on the health of the wild animals.
The curator said maximum efforts were taken by the officials and field staff in maintaining hygiene conditions and draining out water from the animal enclosures.
The officials also inspected the Mir Alam Tank arch bund and the heavy inflow into the zoo from the weir adjacent Tiger Safari area. They also went around and examined the areas of Safari Park, Singoji Pond which was slightly inundated with flood water and draining out of water taken up with diesel engines while trees and debris were being removed manually.
Subhadra Devi also discussed the issue with Irrigation department and GHMC on possibilities for diverting the excess water without entering the zoo as a permanent solution.
