Hyderabadi woman kills three children, attempts suicide in Saudi Arabia

A Hyderabadi woman allegedly drowned her three children in a bathtub before attempting suicide in Saudi Arabia’s Al Khobar. Her husband alerted police after discovering the incident. Family cited mental health struggles and disputes. Saudi police are investigating the case.

Hyderabad: A Hyderabadi woman allegedly killed her three children and later attempted suicide in Al Khobar city, Saudi Arabia, on Tuesday.

The woman, identified as Syeda Humera Amreen, a native of Mohammadi Lines (MD Lines) in Tolichowki, Hyderabad, allegedly drowned her twin sons, Sadeq Ahmed and Adel Ahmed (7), and her younger son Yousuf Ahmed (3), in a bathtub at their residence. After killing the children, she is said to have tried to end her life, according to family sources.

Her husband, Mohammed Shahnawaz, returned home from work in the evening and was shocked to find the children dead. He immediately alerted the local police.

The woman and her children were in Saudi Arabia on a visit visa. Family members said she was suffering from mental health issues and loneliness, while sources also indicated that there had been family disputes.

The exact reasons behind the incident are yet to be ascertained. Saudi police have taken up the investigation.
