Hyderabad: It is a known fact that the Korean thrilling series ‘Squid Game’ has been trending since it was released on Netflix.
Well, the series has also kept several Hyderabadis glued to the screen. Many feel that the concept of the game is quite thrilling and has kept the viewers on their toes throughout the nine episodes.
“I started watching it even before it started trending virally. I really enjoyed the show and binge watched the whole season. I completed the nine episodes within one night and am really waiting for the secrets to be revealed in the second season,” Kunal Raj Leo, 30, a graphic designer in the city.
Some also found the episodes to be having a hook with the audience where each sympathised with a favourite character in the show. “If we watch a series or a show, we usually take sides and have predetermined conclusions but here it was tough to stay strong with one character as the storyline is very tricky. Also, the costumes and the masks have an intriguing effect like that of the Spanish series ‘Money Heist’,” says Moulika Bhavana, 24, an IT employee.
However, on the flip side, a few Hyderabadis found ‘Squid Game’ to be very similar to a Bollywood film called ‘Luck’. Starring Imran Khan and Shruti Haasan in the lead roles, ‘Luck’ also had a similar storyline where a huge cash prize is offered to the ones playing the dangerous game.
“The show’s treatment is all good and I have completed all episodes, but for some reason I found it a little predictable at places and found the concept to be quite similar to films like ‘Luck’ and ‘Table No. 21’. However, some of the concepts in the series are quite new like that of a murdering doll and so on which impressed several viewers,” shares Adithya Bharadway, 21, an engineering student in the city.
