Kumram Bheem Asifabad: Superintendent of Police Suresh Kumar formally inaugurated solar street lamps in six remote hamlets of Govena village in Tiryani mandal on Monday.
The lamps, worth Rs 4.50 lakh were sponsored by Arcserve, a software company of Hyderabad under corporate social responsibility. They were installed by Samaritans for the nation, a Hyderabad-based voluntary organisation.

Suresh Kumar turned on the lamps installed in interior Kurshiguda, Naikapuguda, Kolamgudam, Gondguda and Solarguda hamlets of Govena gram panchayat and Devagudurgam in Asifabad mandal. He lauded the IT firm for lighting the lives of the hapless tribals and ending their woes caused due to lack of street lamps. He said that small gestures would bring great relief to the dwellers of the remote parts of the district.

The SP urged the tribals not to grow banned ganja, which would attract criminal cases with the State government clamping down on the menace. He requested them to provide education to their children. He sought them not to cooperate with prohibited Maoists. He advised them to share information about strangers with police.

The software company-sponsored 22 lamps and poles costing Rs 22,000 each after being requested by the then Tiryani Sub-Inspector P Rama Rao. It had donated solar lights to dwellers of the five hamlets located in hilly areas in 2021. The tribals expressed gratitude to representatives of the firm for coming to their rescue. They said that they could now move freely at night.
Additional SP Acheswar Rao, Asifabad DSP R Srinivasl, Rebbena CI Satheesh, Tiryani SI Vijay and local tribal leaders were present.
