Hyderabad’s Kandi Ravi clinches title at Pawn’s Gambit Rapid Chess
Veteran chess player Kandi Ravi won the Pawn’s Gambit Rapid Chess Tournament in Hyderabad with a perfect score of five points from five rounds. The 59-year-old also collected Rs 2000 and continues his long career as player, arbiter and instructor
Hyderabad: Kandi Ravi won the Pawn’s Gambit Rapid Chess Tournament at Ikea Store with five points from five rounds and also collected a winner’s purse of Rs 2000.
Rahim Lakhani, with four points from four rounds, and Rasaraj, with a similar score, finished second and third respectively.
For the record, the 59-year-old Kandi Ravi, working in South Central Railway (Secunderabad), is also a FIDE Instructor, Senior National Arbiter and Arena Master. Some of his recent wins include the LMCA Uganda Cup, HCC Invitation Rapid Chess Tournament and Board Drama Rapid Chess.
Ravi is also the founder-president of the Hyderabad Chess Centre and has 38 years of field experience.
