Hyderabad’s mercury drops: BHEL Factory area hits season’s low of 12.9°C

Hyderabad: After a brief spell of mild weather, winter is making its presence felt again in Hyderabad as temperatures began to drop significantly. The city recorded an average minimum temperature of 17.5 degrees Celsius on Monday, slightly below the normal of 17.6 degrees Celsius.

Several areas across the city reported chilly conditions, with the BHEL Factory area registering the lowest temperature at 12.9 degrees Celsius.


Other notable minimum temperatures included Rajendranagar (13.5 degrees Celsius), Quthbullapur (14.4 degrees Celsius), Sivarampalle (14.9 degrees Celsius), Bandlaguda (14.5 degrees Celsius), Macha Bollaram (15 degrees Celsius), West Maredpally (15.3 degrees Celsius), Jeedimetla (15.5 degrees Celsius), and Patancheruvu (15.5 degrees Celsius).

Neighboring districts also experienced a sharp dip, with Zahirabad and Bibipet in Kamareddy recording a minimum temperature of 12.1 degrees Celsius, the lowest in the region.

The maximum temperature in Hyderabad on Sunday was recorded at 30.4 degrees Celsius, just 0.5 degrees above the normal. Relative humidity levels stood at 55 per cent in the morning and dropped to 37 per cent by evening.

The India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) seven-day forecast predicts continued cool mornings with minimum temperatures hovering around 16–17 degrees Celsius, accompanied by partly cloudy skies and haze. Daytime temperatures are expected to remain steady around 30–31 degrees Celsius
