Hyderabad: The popular MG Road and its surroundings in Secunderabad is in for a major makeover in the coming days. A series of initiatives are planned by the administration that promise to impart an aesthetic development around here.
Animal Husbandry Minister, T.Srinivas Yadav who along with Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Special Chief Secretary, Arvind Kumar, went around the stretch that falls under Ramgopalpet division, said the vicinities of Mahatma Gandhi statue will undergo a major change with beautification.
“Close to the present one, one more new statue of Mahatma Gandhi will be installed and the entire surroundings will be beautified,” he said. The new statue will be aesthetically surrounded with gazebos, seating arrangements and greenery.
Plans are underway to install the statue of a meditating Mahatma Gandhi like the one installed in the assembly, said an official from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).
The Minister also directed civic officials to relocate the transformers and acquire a part of the road/land near the existing Gandhi Statue and beautify the place.
“Foothpaths, security cabin, a small library, an entrance, toilets, seating arrangements, food courts, landscaping with seating needs and footpaths are also being planned as part of the project,” said T Rohit from Prayoga Architects, the company that designed the beautification project.
The GHMC officials said they are making all efforts to provide a good recreational place equipped with amenities at MG Road. The James Street Beautification project has several components incorporated within that include paved pathways, patches of green development and innovatively created design elements.
