Hyderabad: Proving once again that Hyderabad is rightly called the pharmaceutical hub of India, three billionaires featured in the top 100 India Rich List are from this sector and from the city as well.
Murali Divi of Divi Labs is the richest Hyderabadi and is ranked the 14th richest person in the country with 61 per cent change in his wealth and has a wealth of Rs.79,000 crore. Divi has moved up three spots from his previous ranking of 17.
The report by IIFL-Hurun India Rich List 2021 says that Telangana is home to 63 billionaires – people who have a wealth of more than Rs 1,000 crore. And the State has added eight new billionaires to its list from last year. Out of this, Hyderabad alone has 56 billionaires and has added five new billionaires to the list.
The second person from Hyderabad to feature in the top 100 list is B Parthasaradhi Reddy & family of Hetro Labs, who is ranked 58th in the list. Reddy has moved up by 23 spots and his wealth has grown by 88 per cent in the last year. He has accumulated wealth worth Rs.26,100 crore.
The third billionaire featured is Aurobindo Pharma chief PV Ramprasad Reddy, who has slipped 33 spots and is ranked 86th in the India Rich List. His wealth depreciated by 6 per cent and has a total wealth of Rs.19,000 crore. The other billionaires from Hyderabad who do not feature in the top 100 are Dr Reddy’s Laboratories chairman K Satish Reddy, GV Prasad and G Anuradha.
