Hyderabad woman alleges forced conversion, rape, blackmail

A woman in Hyderabad alleged forced conversion, rape and blackmail by her husband and his family, accusing them of coercion, assault and extorting Rs 16.5 lakh. Police registered a case and launched an investigation into the allegations

Hyderabad: A woman from the city has alleged forced religious conversion, rape, and blackmail by her husband and, his family members.

The woman had married Nawaz alias Navadurga, in July 2021. She alleged that Nawaz converted her faith and later started harassing and torturing her. “He took photos in compromising positions and forced me into marrying him,” the woman alleged.


She alleged that Nawaz and his family took her to a farmhouse, drugged and physically assaulted her. The woman alleged that the Nawaz and his family forced her to transfer Rs 16.5 lakh from her bank account and misappropriated the amount.
The police on a complaint registered a case and are investigating.
