Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (Hydraa) on Wednesday said its teams had demolished illegal structures built on a playground earmarked in an HMDA-approved layout at Shastripuram Colony in Old City (Mailardevpally).
According to a press release, Hydraa teams pulled down five buildings under construction, each planned as G 3 floors, along with two single-room structures. As per the layout, more than 1,800 plots were allocated, with 6,500 square yards designated for a playground.
The Hydraa, on receiving complaints from locals that encroachers were selling plots for the past three years without permission, inspected the site along with GHMC and revenue officials and confirmed the land was earmarked for a sports field.
On Wednesday, Hydraa demolished the encroachments, including the five buildings under construction and the two small-room structures, while sparing two other buildings that were already occupied, an official said.
