Hyderabad: Outsourcing employees of the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (Hydraa) held a protest at Hydraa’s head office, Budha Bhavan, on Wednesday over salary issues.

This is the second instance of outsourcing employees staging a protest. The first protest occurred when marshals working for Hydraa boycotted duties and staged a stir on August 11, stating their salaries were cut.

According to a release, the Hydraa clarified the salaries of outsourced employees were not being reduced, despite a temporary delay in receiving matching grants from GHMC. Hydraa had raised this issue with the government which proposed the entire difference be covered by a matching grant from GHMC, according to an official statement.

Although Hydraa attempted to pay the full salaries using this matching fund, a delay occurred as the GHMC indicated that the grant would be released following the standing committee’s approval. To avoid delays in employees’ salaries, Hydraa paid the salaries immediately and the difference amount would be adjusted soon, said the statement.

However, some employees mistakenly believed their salaries had been reduced and staged protests on Wednesday, according to the statement.

Hydraa Commissioner AV Ranganath held discussions with the employees and pacified them. “The same salaries received as part of EVDM in GHMC would continue to be paid.”

Hydraa outsourcing division have not yet issued a statement on the matter.
