Hyderabad: Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA)’s Disaster Response Force (DRF) and Monsoon Response Teams (MRT) rescued a person who was swept away by raging floodwaters near Durgam Cheruvu at Madhapur on Friday.
A press release said that the man was riding an electric moped through Vithal Rao Nagar when the force of the water knocked him down and dragged him into the drain.
Heavy rain had caused a strong flow of floodwater in the area. He was swept nearly 50 metres into a large underground pipe recently constructed as part of the SNDP works.
The DRF and MRT personnel entered the drain and searched the pipeline using torchlights. After considerable effort, they located the man and pulled him out safely from the pipeline. The victim said HYDRAA had saved him when his life was in grave danger.
Meanwhile, HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath visited waterlogged areas at Madhapur and reviewed the situation.
