Hyderabad: The Income Tax department has asked tax assesses having disputes with the tax amount, assessment, penalties and others to use Vivaad Se Vishwas, a dispute resolution window, introduced by the Government.
Those wanting to put an end to their tax disputes have to file an applications online before December 31 and they will be redressed by March 31, 2021.
Speaking to the media, Chief Commercial Income Tax Officer JB Mahapatra said the scheme will act like a bridge between the tax assesses and the Income Tax department. By opting for resolution under this window, there will be no penalty, which otherwise would have been levied.
Also, court cases, if any, will be withdrawn on those coming forward to use the dispute resolution mechanism. This can be used for all tax related disputes.
The pending tax dues in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are to the tune of Rs 8,000 crore. At the national level, there are 4.82 lakh I-T return cases in the courts, he said.
