Zaheerabad: In an assertion that is likely to cause consternation among the Congress top leadership, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy reiterated that he would seek the BJP-led Union Government’s support to ensure Telangana’s welfare and development. “Irrespective of the criticism, I will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi not just once but 50 times to get funds and a project approved for the State,” he said here on Friday.

Addressing a public meeting, the Chief Minister stressed that when the State and Union governments worked together, welfare and development could be ensured. Politics were limited to elections. Once elections were done, the agenda was to strive for comprehensive development involving all leaders, he stated.

The Chief Minister said the farming community was being provided with assistance under the Rythu Bharosa scheme. It was increased from Rs 10,000 per acre to Rs 12,000 per acre, he said, adding the government also decided to provide Rs 12,000 per acre to landless farm labourers.

He also said that, as promised to the farmers, their crop loans were waived for Rs 20,617 crore. “I promise to the women that in five years, one crore women will be made crorepatis,” Revanth Reddy assured. The Chief Minister stressed that if welfare programmes were to be implemented effectively, the State’s income should increase. IT and industrial parks should be established to secure investments and double the State’s income, he stressed.

“To achieve all this, opposition support and union government assistance are essential,” the Chief Minister stressed.

He emphasized on completion and development of the National Investment and Manufacturing Zone (NIMZ) at Medak. Land acquisition was expedited, and compensation was increased for the displaced under the NIMZ project. The government would also sanction 5,612 Indiramma Houses to the displaced of the NIMZ, he announced.
