Hyderabad: The Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India (ICFAI) organised the 10th NJ Yasaswy Memorial Lecture on ‘Role of Higher Education Institutions in the Modern Context’ in remembrance of NJ Yasaswy’s contribution to the higher education sector and the pan-India impact he made in the education space.
Jayesh Ranjan, Principal Secretary, Industries & Commerce (I&C) and Information Technology (IT) Departments, who was the chief guest of the programme said, “there is a high problem of unemployment among youth in the country and at the same time there is a severe shortage of skilled youth.”
Dr C Rangarajan, Chancellor, ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education, speaking on the occasion, expressed concern by pointing out the conventional rote-memorising techniques which still prevail as the assessment methods across various educational institutions and urged the institutions to design assessments that stimulate the students and transform them into thinking citizens. Sobha Rani Yasaswy, Chair Person, ICFAI Society, Prof Vijaya Lakshmi, Registrar and other dignitaries, students, faculty attended the lecture.
