ICRISAT develops more than 1,200 new of varieties of seeds in five decades

Speaking to news reporters on the occasion of 54th foundation day of the ICRISAT in Patancheru on Friday, Pathak said changing temperatures and the increase of dry lands were posing a serious challenge to the world. He said that it will impact agricultural productivity if the temperatures on the earth rise by one degree celsius on the earth.
Expressing concern over lack of adaptability to new technologies in backward nations, Patahk said that the ICRISAT scientists must focus on transferring the new breeds of seeds and technologies to these poor countries, to enhance agricultural productivity. Saying that soil degradation has also become an issue across the world, the Director General said that the ICRISAT was working on soil enrichment.
He called upon the scientists to take AI and technology help to overcome the challenges of drought and floods. Stating that the people of African countries were suffering from malnourishment, Pathak said that the ICRISAT scientists were trying to check the issue by improving the agricultural productivity in these countries. He underlined the importance of the collaboration among the agriculture scientists and institutes to find solutions to major issues the agriculture sector was facing.
