Karimnagar: District Collector K Shashanka on Wednesday instructed the officials to identify priority groups for Covid-19 since the government has decided to administer vaccines to them first.

Auto-rickshaw and cab drivers, vegetables, fruit and flower vendors, street vendors, people working in kirana stores, mutton, chicken and wine shops, hamalis, housemaids, gas supply boys are among in the priority list.

The Collector asked the officials at a teleconference with them on transportation of essential commodities and control of prices of essential commodities, to prepare the list and take steps to administer vaccines to them .

Don’t interrupt commodity vehicles

Shashanka wanted the officials not to interrupt vehicles carrying essential commodities to the district from other places during the time of lockdown. Officials were asked to prove passes to vehicles carrying essential commodities and fertilizer.

There was a possibility of a rise in the price of essential commodities if vehicles were interrupted. Presently, there was no problem in transportation of commodities, he said and asked the Deputy Transport Commissioner to take steps not to stall vehicles.

Officials should regularly visit wholesale markets and take steps to control the prices, he said and wanted the officials to take steps to display the prices of commodities in front of shops.

The Collector instructed the Drug Inspector that there should not be any shortage for injections and other medicines. He wanted the officials to ensure the people to maintain physical distance at chicken, mutton, and vegetable markets.
