Hyderabad: Social scientists, NGOs, technologists, research groups, innovators, policy makers, impact funders and CSR organizations deliberated on how emerging technologies can assist and enable rural education and healthcare at annual conference on Technology & Society hosted by International Institute of Information Technology-Hyderabad (IIIT-H).
Keynote speakers included IIIT-H GC Chairman, Prof. Raj Reddy, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd Co-Chairman, GV Prasad and PHFI president, Dr. K Srikanth Reddy.
The conference included plenary panel discussions themed on AI and Society, with special focus on how AI can enable social outcomes and on healthcare at the BoP and how healthcare can be taken effectively to rural doorsteps.
The first edition of the conference coincided with the inauguration of IIIT-H’s Raj Reddy Centre for Technology and Society (RCTS).
Commending IIIT-H on the inauguration of the Centre, IT Minister KT Rama Rao said “I am delighted that IIIT-H has set up the Raj Reddy Centre for Technology and Society to leverage technology for social impact. My congratulations to the entire team at the IIIT-H”.
Prof. Raj Reddy said “Through this new Centre, I hope we can use technology to find solutions in healthcare, education etc., for those at the bottom of the pyramid. Solutions that are scalable and accessible to everyone, as well as sustainable to see long term impact”.
